Tax Day!

Well I screwed it up again.  Why is it everytime I think I have it figured out how things work it changes on me.  For the last 2 years since James went on disability we have had to pay $100 in on the taxes so I really wasnt worried about it.  I saved the money so I could pay it.  I kept putting off doing the taxes because I thought I had it figured out.  James kept pestering me to do the taxes and the more he bugged me that more I resisted doing it.  I got up at 6am to do the taxes and I thought it would be done in 15mins but when I finished filing out the forms I owed $962 not $100.  I just started crying and thought I would throw up.  I went in and woke James up.  I wish he understood what I need from him.  I have realized that I have been screwing our money up thinking that if I mess it up bad enought someone else will have to take it over.  This is stupid because I know that is not true.  I am the only one that can do it.  I need to just suck it up and take care of it!  I went up to the bank and put in a loan app for $2000 and we are waiting to see if they will loan it to us with my car as collateral.  I should have an answer by tomorrow.  I asked for enough to cover the taxes and to pay for a new clutch for my car.  I cant drive it much more the way it is.  I hope they tell me soon.  If we get turned down we are going to have to contact IRS and set up payments and I have no clue how to pay for my clutch.

I wish...

I wish I could do all the things I want to do all in the same day.  I want to be able to read the fun and crazy book I am reading right now about vampires and that they live now and what they are doing.  I want to work on my cards today.  I still need to make a few more for the auction.  I want to make cute little covers for the top of the marmalade jars so I can dontae them too to the auction.  I want to take more pictures and play with them.  I want to spend time with my favorite person on earth Andrew.  I want to go for a walk out in this wonderful weather we are finally having.  I want to help Stacey find an awesome place for her wedding.  I want to cook a great desert. I want to make so chicken wings and not have to clean up my mess.  I want to spend time talking to my best friend on the phone.
But so far today I have read my book, I did take a few pictures, I have sat on my back porch and enjoyed the weather.  I still plan on playing with some pictures and I hope to do at least one more card tonight.  Oh and I got online and found a great website for a mobile wedding company that was really reasonable and had great place that I think Stacey and John would like.
So I guess I shouldnt complain huh.

Mom's Birthday is coming up!

Mom's Birthday is ThursdayI cant believe she is turning 74.  I wish we could be there.  I finally got her card done and out in the mail today.  I had bought a new stamp last month just to make Mom's card but when I tried to stamp and color it the stamp was defective and the middle of the stamp wouldnt show up so now at the last minute I had to totally rethink her card.  I decided to look through the cards pictures I have stored on my laptop and found a new design.  Then I had to pick out a new stamp, so I decided to use one of the new ones I hadnt used yet, so that meant I needed to do a trial run on how I wanted to color it.  Once I got that done I had to pick out what color I wanted the card to be and color the picture to go with it.  I pulled out the die cutters I have and decided to use the scallop circle to cut the picture out.  I wanted to use the new dotted swiss embossing card I got recently but when I tried it I realized the strip of white I needed was longer then the embossing card.  So I ran it thru the first time and then turned the strip around lined it up on the dots and reran it.  But I miss judged and had a strip that wasnt embossed.  So then I decided to run a strip of red sparkly ribbon around each side.  It looked great.  I put the front of the card all together, and then picked out the stamp I wanted to use on the insides.  I have a great Its your Birthday stamp so I stamped it on a white sheet with red ink for the inside and attached it.  I love the way this card came together even if it wasnt the card I originally planned.  Oh and I took the first stamp back to the store and they are getting me a new one from one of their other stores!

I DID IT!!!!!

I did it all by myself!  I tried to get onto my blog and it wouldnt recongnize me so I could add anything onto my blog.  I was so upset.  I tried to build a new blog for myself and it was driving me crazy.  I stayed up last night working on it until 1am and still couldnt figure out how to do it.  I even went to a different blog site and tried to create one there, that wasnt any easier.  Finally I went back to blogger and tried there again.  I started by just pulling up other peoples blogs and looking where they got their designs and went to those websites.  I got up at 8:30am and started working on it again.  It went a little better today but it still took a long time to figure it all out.  It is 4pm and I finally have it all done.  I also went back to my old blog and copied and pasted my entries which was great since that way I brought forward all my cards I had listed.  Well I need to get up and start dinner so I better go for now.

Something for the Grandkids

Well you can't really tell it in these pictures but I made shadow boxes for two of my grandchildren who are brother and sister. I put some stamps on the back of the boxes , then when I placed the princesses and Mickey Mouse I used some foam pads to put them out about an inch from the back of the box. Then I put their names on the outside along with a few stickers. They love them and couldnt wait to get home to put them up.

Happy Birthday!

I wanted to make a Birthday Card for my Step Daughter, so I started by picking the Tilda for the front of the card. I had just received the Spellcaster Tilda and really wanted to use her right away. Then I looked thru the Card Quotes CD I had gotten from Hot Off the Press and picked the sentiment for the inside. I wanted the card to be pink so I looked thru my papers and picked out all pink tones. I had decided I was going to do a card with multipule layers so I looked thru all the pictures of cards I have saved on my computer. I have a hard time doing more then just one or two layers on a card, but I found one that I thought I could do. The hardest part for me is mixing patterns, I guess I just keep hearing my Mom saying "You don't mix stripes and prints together!" Next I colored Tilda to match my papers. I decided to add yellow into the colors so I pulled some yellow cardstock. I decided to use the pink rose, pink toned gems and the pink ribbon. Once I printed the sentiment onto cardstock I took pink chalk and highlited over the words. I had everything layed out on my work table and I started putting it all together. I'll admit there was suppose to be one more strip of colored paper on this card but with the size of Tilda she took more space on the card and when I tried to put the other layer on it was too much. I really like the way this card turned out. This was the first card that I actually feel like I created it in the right order. It worked so much better for me to pick the stamp, the sentiment, then the color, the layout, then the papers and last the ebellishments. and put it all together. It felt so good when she opened the card and was so suprised by how great it looked and that she just kept looking at it seeing all the little things I put onto the card. This is why I spend so much time choosing and making my cards for that particular person and occasion! Please let me know what you think. I almost forgot to put the copic colors I used here they are:

Hair Y02, Y32
Wand E25, RV23
Dress RV04, RV02, RV00
Shoes C3

I love my Mom!

I am sorry it takes me so long to post a new card on my blog, I just get too many things going at the same time. I also find that the best time for me to work on my cards is in the early morning while my husband is still asleep. Of course that only happens on the weekends. We recently bought a boat and we try to go fishing one day on the weekends so I am having to work around that too. I love spending time with my husband out on the lake. It is nice to be able to just fish and talk for a few hours. We have started laughing again and really enjoy being with just each other. I dont know how some of you do it creating a card every day and sometimes even more! I picked the Tilda I wanted to use on my Mom's Mother's Day card. Since my mom lives on the Oregon coast and I live in Austin Texas we only get to be together on the phone. I really do think about my mom a lot and wonder what she is up to, so the Barefoot Tilda I thought was perfect. Then I picked out the papers. I had gotten a recent set of papers from Paper Pizazz called Little Prints and Patterns. I chose the green and purple toned papers and decided to contrast it with pink and purple cardstock from Archivers. I used a recent scetch I had seen on line and here are the results.

I'm sorry I forgot to keep track of the copic colors I used. I was trying to be more organized this time. I started out by getting everything out that I would need to do this card, and as I used something I put it away so I would have more space to work. So guess what, when I got done coloring Tilda I put the colors away. When I tried to go back and pull them out I wasnt sure which ones I had used so instead of giving you the wrong colors I will promise you that I will try to be sure to write down the colors from now on.
Well I have one my Mother's Day card to make, this one is for my daughter and I plan on using the new stamp from Wimsie Doodle Swing Koale. When I first saw it, it made me think of my wonderful grandson so I am using it to make her card to remind her what a great Mom she is.

My First Sweet Tilda!

Ok I know it has taken me way to long to do this post but life just gets crazy sometimes! I love going thru all the post o the Magnolia Blog. When I come across a card I really like I leep a copy of it on my computer. I especially liked a card that Caroline had done on her blog http://angel4031.blogspot.com/ and I decided to try to make one of my own. I have recently received my Sweet Tilda stamp and wanted to try it out. I had made my self a promise about 5 months ago that I would not purchase anymore paper until I use up a lot of the stock I have on hand so unfortunatley I dont know the name of the pattern paper I just went thru my stock and since I wanted to color my Tilda in purples I picked out paper that had small purple flowers along with purple and light green stripes. I used cardstock that matched the purple and the light green. I have been also downloading fonts and used Fang Song in bold to create the sentiment on the front and the inside. I used an EK punch that I had for the edge and pulled a thin white satin ribbon from my stash. I recently found my best friend that I had in high school and I wanted to send her this card. I know Karen will love this card. She is having some hard times right now with her health and I just want her to know I do think about her every day.

I used the following copics to color Tilda
Y02 Hair
E00, E21 Skin
RV23 Cheeks
BV02, BV04, BV08, V17 Dress, shoes and socks

Thank you Caroline for your inspiration!

I am so excited to post this card. It is the first one I made with my new stamps! I made this card for my very special friend Sheila who is going through some tough times. I wanted her to remember that even though her friends cant always be right there beside her we anr always thinking about her and will be here for her.
I started by coloring my new Mimosa Umbrella stamp in several different color schemes. I settled on this yellow and green theme mostly because my husband (who is my best critic) said it was his favorite. I used the following Copic colors E00, E21, E25, E29, G14, YG05,Y02, Y11, R81, R83, and RV23. I remembered that I had this paper in my drawer the colors would work perfect. I have had it a long time and wish I could tell you the name of it. I went thru my cardstock and pulled the orange, light green and rose colors that matched the patterned card stock. I use Archiver brand cardstock, they are my favorite scrapping store, I visit them weekly if not daily sometimes! I had seen a card that I really liked on a Blog so I used it as my templete. I cut the patterned stock so it showed the scalloped edge that was on the paper and matted it with the orange cardstock placing it on a 5x5 easel card. I then took and cut a 2" strip of the rose cardstock and used my Fiskar Boarder Punch to create the lacey strip to put across the middle. Next I cut the piece of the light green cardstock and placed it on the left side of the card centering it between the scallops and the bottom edge of the patterned paper. I cut an oval using my Nestabilites die cuts, just the size of my Mimosa so that when I placed it on the oval, the umbrella would just hang off the edge of it. I placed it overlapping the light green piece. Next I picked out two flowers that are from Flora Doodles and put them together with the sparkly center that comes with them, and place them on the bottom left corner of the light green stock. I cut another strip of the patterned paper and placed it on the bottom of the easel card along with a piece of the orange stock that what just thinner then the patterened paper and overlapped them on the base. I then used the light green cardstock and created another lacey strip putting it across the base. I cut out a small oval with my Nestabilities die cuts and printed "Thinking of You" on it and placed it in the center of the lacey strip. I put little rinestones around it to be able to rest the card against. I left the orange cardstock blank so we could all sign our names on it. I wanted to place a small flower on the bottom right hand corner but didnt have any the right color or size in my stock and I had to give the card to Sheila the next morning before she left town to go to her follow up.
I had so much fun making this card and cant wait to do the next one!
